ABOUT

I was born in London, England, in 1967, unlike my mother, not into a dog basket, in Barcelona.

My father was famed interior decorator David Hicks, and my mother is Pamela Hicks, daughter to the Earl and Countess Mountbatten of Burma.

My grandfather was the last Viceroy of India, and gave the country their independence in 1947, hence my name.

The Prince of Wales is my Godfather. A wonderful one. But as a tom boy it was hard to forgive being asked to wear that frilly dress as a bridesmaid to him and Lady Diana.

Following school I backpacked around the world for a year. I returned to London, took a foundation course in art, before moving to Boston, to take a degree in photography, graduating unexpectedly with honors.

W magazine featured me in an issue of ‘New Beauties’, which Ralph Lauren saw and subsequently booked me for my first modeling job. A career on the other side of the camera was born.

I now live on a small island in the Bahamas, with David Flint Wood and our four children Felix, Amory, Conrad and Domino.

We published an interiors book in 2003 'Island Life' I followed this with ‘Island Beauty’ a lifestyle fitness/beauty book published in 2005. Part of the proceeds from these books have been donated to a small non-profit community school in The Bahamas. We also built or restored 4 houses and a hotel along the way.

At the beginning of 2006 I became a Creative Partner with Crabtree and Evelyn. Since then we launched two successful collections of bath and beauty products 'Island Living' and 'Island Night'.

In 2008 I hosted Bravo’s reality series Top Design. A weird and wonderful experience.

I am a passionate horse rider having hunted during my childhood. I am also an advanced scuba diver, have bungee jumped, parachuted and hand glided. I also snow ski, water ski, wakeboard and rollerblade, have climbed into the Grand Canyon, and run three 26.2 mile marathon’s.
